On July 31, I went to Mavis in Yorktown for a state inspection. I was advised two of the tires on my car had dry rot.

I asked about tires that were reasonably priced and under no circumstance did I want tires made in China. The employee โ€œJTโ€ recommended โ€œWestlakeโ€ tires. I asked where they were made and he said โ€œCanadaโ€. I then asked if he could do better on a set of four and he gave me a decent price.

I purchased four tires and went home. That evening I took a close look at the tires and noticed that they were stamped โ€œMADE IN CHINAโ€ on the sidewall. You can imagine how annoyed I was and got up early the next morning and return to switch tires. As I was in no position to negotiate, purchasing four tires made in the USA cost me an additional $150.

I have been going to this Mavis for approximately twenty years and always trusted what I was told. In the future I will have to take a look at the tires I purchase myself, for fear of being given inaccurate information.

What bothered me the most was not receiving an apology or โ€œsorryโ€ for my inconvenience.

Monetary Loss: $150.
